Silo Safety Products
Systems to minimise on-site risks and keep your workforce safe
At Portasilo we understand the importance of providing a safe working environment for all personnel on your site. That's why we provide a range of systems to ensure your silos and handling equipment operate safely and efficiently at all times.
Pressure resistant silos
Silos can be supplied for pressure resistance or shock resistance up to pressures of 10 bar gauge, in accordance with EN 13445 or EN 14460. Our experienced engineers will help you to select the most cost-effective means of protecting your site.
Pressure relief valve
Our PRV350 combined pressure and vacuum relief valve is designed to protect silos from damaging over and under pressures encountered during filling and emptying. The valve is available in a variety of materials and gasket combinations to suit a wide range of applications and industries.
- Sized for 13000m³/hour outflow
- Sized for 5000m³/hour inflow
- Quick-release cover
- External springs - for high tolerance to dust
- Large capacity 350mm diameter with long travel springs
- Fully compliant with HSE guidelines
- Suitable for pressures up to 900mm w.g and vacuum up to 250mm w.g.
Ground level testing
Because vertical ladders are generally used to access silo roofs to carry out service and inspections, this work is covered by the Work at Height Regulations 2005 (WAHR 05).
To avoid, prevent or at least minimise the need to access the silo roof, Portasilo offers a range of equipment available for ground level monitoring and testing. This range includes monitoring of filter differential pressure and high-pressure air supply tests, as well as ground level testing for level probes, pressure transducers and pressure-relief valves.
Auto shut-off silo fill panels
To help you protect the environment from dust emissions caused by over-filled or over-pressurised silos, we offer a silo auto shut-off system. This is fitted to all new silos and can be retrofitted to most existing ones. Health and Safety Executive (H&SE) guidance and Defra Process Guidance notes now require the fitting of these devices to prevent environmental damage caused by prolonged dust emissions.
Our EPC400 silo fill panel provides all the control functions required to prevent dust emissions caused by over-filled or over-pressurised silos. The panel provides an audible and visual alarm for both high fill levels and high pressure. If both alarms are activated simultaneously, the panel automatically actuates the silo inlet valve to prevent the problem escalating.
